Laura Lomas Tomlinson has been an educator for the past 20 years. She has taught 8th-grade mathematics and algebra, and developed after-school STEM programs for underrepresented communities in those fields in southern New Mexico. Currently, she is a librarian at Graham Elementary School.
Her love of stories comes from listening to her grandmother’s stories while sitting under the stars on hot summer nights in Mexico. Visits to her elementary school library inspired Laura to become a librarian herself. Now, she has been a school librarian for the past five years with Austin ISD feeling that it’s the best way to inspire young readers in their journey to life-long learning. She believes that if you can read, you can do anything. Laura loves reading, traveling, cycling, and eating Hatch green chile.
